A room full of attention and interest welcomed the presentation of the fifth edition of “Music at the Palace”, the festival that gives 2021 promotes the rediscovery of the musical heritage of Renaissance Sicily and which today expands its mission by increasingly transforming itself into a project dedicated to the new generations.
The deputy mayor and councilor for culture Giovanna Candura were present at the press conference, the councilor for Sport and Events Petrantoni and the councilor for Social Policies Pasqualino, concrete testimony of how the initiative is considered an important opportunity for cultural and social growth for the city.
The most significant novelty of the edition 2026 it is in fact the start of the activities of the Cristobál Galán Academy, hosted in the DesTEENazione spaces. A project that offers free gifts to girls and boys 11 ai 20 years the possibility of approaching ancient music through baroque violin courses, cello, lute and choral practice, accompanied by specialized teachers and a national network of entities engaged in the valorisation of the historical musical heritage.
It's not just about musical training. The Academy was created with the aim of creating meeting opportunities, collaboration and participation, placing young people at the center of a path that uses culture as a tool for personal growth and active citizenship. In this sense, the initiative represents an investment in the human capital of the area, offering young people high-level educational experiences that can open up new artistic and professional perspectives.
Particularly significant is the inclusion of the Early Youth Music Orchestra & academies of Dr Alberto Sanna delle “United Academies”, which unites realities present in various Italian and European cities. Thanks to this collaboration, Caltanissetta students will have the opportunity to participate in orchestral meetings, cultural exchanges and shared projects with young people from other territories, experiencing experiences that are rarely accessible in local contexts.
During the presentation, the belief that the valorization of cultural heritage can also become a tool for development and collective growth strongly emerged. Ancient music, in this case, it is not proposed as a simple recovery of the past, but as a language capable of speaking to young people and building relationships, skills and sense of belonging.
Confirming this vision were the words of the artistic director Laura Gallo, who defined the festival and the Academy as a real one “bet on the territory”, underlining how knowledge and training are essential elements to understand and enhance the artistic and cultural riches of Sicily.
The first result of this path will be visible on 21 June, on the occasion of the Music Festival, when the students of the Cristobál Galán Academy will take the stage on the main floor of Palazzo Moncada together with the Amoris Lætitia vocal group and the maestros Calogero Sportato and Daniele Cernuto. A concert that will represent not only an artistic moment, but also the symbol of a project that looks to the future starting from young people and culture
