It kicks off 28 December 2024 a Thiene (VI) in the church of S. Vincenzo at hours 18,30 the first ancient music festival in the upper Vicenza area!
He M.A.A.V.. festival is the result of co-planning with the municipality of Thiene and the other two associations CorOrchestra and Inartesalus which manage the historic musical institute of the city of Thiene. An important milestone for the city of Thiene which did not have a structured festival dedicated to ancient music.
For the first time on the occasion of the ensemble's concert “For two voices” music by Agostino Faccho will be performed: organist active in Vicenza since 1624 al 1662, he accompanied the chapel masters starting from LeoneLeoni and following Amodio Freddi, Gaspare Filippi , Biagio Marini and Giovanni Antonio Freschi. Unpublished music performed for the first time after centuries in this area.
The program includes an excursus of musical pieces composed starting from the first ones
decades of the 1600s up to Bach.
These are sacred repertoires, with particular attention to Marian devotion and
to the Advent of Christ in the Catholic tradition, until reaching contemplation
Christmas celebration for the birth of Baby Jesus.
The authors who propose themselves are the major authors of the time: Monteverdi,
Frescobaldi, Big, Viadana to Schütz, Praetorius from Bach, but without disdaining i
local composers from the Veneto area and Vicenza in particular, like Agostino Faccho.
The texts are taken from the liturgy or are devotional texts and highlight all of them
those characteristics of faith expressed in a personal and pathos way, that was
the figure of the time.
Instrumental examples of organ literature are included among the sung pieces
which help even more to experience the closeness of the Mother and the Son in full
contemplation of the incarnate mystery.

The “A” set 2 VOICES” wants to recreate the sound climate from the beginning of the 1600s to
at Bach's age it could be heard in the choir lofts of the chapels that were experimenting with the
Expressive song of the new lesson called “Seconda Pratica”. These are motets and
spiritual concerts with the accompaniment of the bass on the organ, where the voices,
alone or in combination, express all the lyricism of the poetic text. The musicians of
period adorned with sounds, of melodic figures and affections the sacred lyrics and
devotionals that wanted to express the feelings of faith and that they were,
at the same time also the new expression of elevation with the highest degree
of vocal and sound art of the time.
In addition to the vocal music, keyboard-only songs alternate which enhance the
characteristic polyphonic construction that remains, Anyway, the typical seal of
ecclesiastical music of all times.
