The International Festival of ancient music “Note Senza Tempo” celebrates its first five years of activity with a world premiere of an unpublished mass by Alessandro Scarlatti.
Il 13 November at 17.30, in the foyer of the Municipal Theatre, a presentation conference of an informative nature open to the public will be held, during which the unpublished mass by Alessandro Scarlatti will be presented. Protagonists, the musicologist Ondrej Macek with a speech entitled "The manuscript from the archive to modern performance", the composer Giovanna Dongu who will talk about "Musical mass and liturgical practice", the musicians of the Dolci Accenti Calogero Sportato ensemble (thiorba,archlute and baroque guitar) Daniel Cernuto (baroque cello), and the artistic director Alberto Gazale moderated the meeting.
This conference aims to offer an opportunity for the public to familiarize themselves with the repertoire in preparation for the concert 2 December at 19.30, dove, at the church of the Sacred Heart in Sassari, 10 musicians will return wonderful musical pages to history with a first performance in modern times. Scarlatti Project is a project born a year ago from the collaboration between Maestro Macek and the Dolci Accenti association, organizer of the Festival. He M° Macek, as well as having discovered this mass, He is director of the Teatro del Castello di Český Krumlov (Southern Bohemia), which represents an almost unique case of baroque theater perfectly preserved in its original state (1766). From 2000 performs it annually, with the Hof-Musici ensemble, almost exclusively first performances in modern times of works by Alessandro Scarlatti, Nicola Porpora, Antonio Vivaldi, John Adolf Hasse, Antonio Caldara, Antonio Draghi, Antonio Boroni, Antonio Gianettini, Antonio Cesti and others; works that to this day have remained unknown and preserved in European archives and libraries.
In these five years, the “Note Senza Tempo” Festival has carried out an action to disseminate a musical genre that is little known and listened to in concert halls., and today it stands as the only festival on the island to deal with ancient music. A few months ago he received an important certificate of quality with the admission to Rema Early Music in Europe, a network made up of the best 150 early music festival in Europe.
This event is made possible thanks to the collaboration with the “Marialisa De Carolis” Concert Authority and with the sacred music department of the “Casa dei Populi Culture e Religioni” Academy Foundation of Sassari, entities that have shown great sensitivity and interest in dissemination opportunities such as the one proposed by the APS Dolci Accenti.
